RETRO CAMPING CLUB MINUTES
AGM 2026
10TH JULY 2026
Present: Cameron Burns, Jayne Scott, Pam Petre, 15 Club members
Apologies: Ben Humphries-Gibbons. Paul Wood
Chairman
After welcoming everyone to the meeting, Cam thanked the current committee following last year’s difficult AGM which left us with a much-reduced number of committee members.
However, this has been the nicest year for Cam as Chair as the Club celebrated its 10-year anniversary.
Membership is up for the first time since Covid even though it is very much lower than those pre-Covid years. The most voiced reasons for this is “cost of living” and “sold leisure vehicle”.
This year we have increased the Membership Fee to £20. This will take place from the members’ individual renewal date. The main aim has been to offer increased value for money for those with a “retro” mindset. The magazine has been improved and sent to all members.
The Club’s age criteria has been ratified and will continue on a 40-year rolling basis. This fits with the external events we attend and our display rallies will continue to be for those with the relevant vehicles. Social rallies will be open to all members regardless of their outfit status. We pride ourselves on being a friendly club and have always welcomed anyone with an interest in what we do.
Cameron thanked everyone who has organised a social rally this year. All were well attended and enjoyed.
The main display rallies were Beaulieu and Club Fest, which were well attended and well received by the public attending those events.
For this 10th anniversary year, Paul Wood redesigned our logo and everyone attending a rally received a commemorative pennant. This has been a welcome surprise for members.
Cam’s main focus has been to build on the external contacts that he has in order to move the club forward. The Caravan and Motorhome Club ties continue to strengthen and will be of mutual benefit in the future.
Our social media engagement continues to be hit and miss. The club’s public facing fb page hasn’t had the engagement recently that it once had and needs to be addressed going forward.
Secretary
Pam gave an apology for meeting minutes not appearing on the Website. She assured the meeting that she would find out how to achieve this and going forward they would be available for all members to read.
Membership
Ben sent his report which was read to the meeting by Pam
Since the last AGM the membership has risen, not massively but we have gained around 100 members this year, taking us to 388 paid members.
95 members are on the Covid tariff, meaning we will see a drop in numbers by the end of this year and into 2027. This will save us the cost of sending out magazines etc basically for free and these members are, of course, still on the old £15 fee system which we have to honour. We are hoping that around 40 of these memberships pick back up their fee-paying status.
Membership packs have been flying out with a few going to Europe and one to the USA! This is the first time I’ve sent out membership packs in my four years on Committee.
Treasurer
We still have a healthy bank balance and the Year’s Accounts are appended to the end of these Minutes.
Jayne had one note to members: Our Public Liability cover has been increased from £1m to £5m to cover members who attend outside events such as steam fairs and other events where they are on display and representing the Club.
Committee
Cameron thanked both Paul Wood and John Roberts who resigned from the committee to focus on their other commitments. Cam, Ben, Jayne and Pam will remain in office. These decisions have been un-opposed.
The Year Ahead
The Committee’s focus will be to continue to raise the profile of the Club and attract more members. If we are able, we hope we can increase the frequency of magazines and other club material to the membership. We will organise 3 social rallies: season starter; national agm and season closer. We invite members to come forward with any rallies that they would like to organise. We continue to investigate attendance at display rallies that will be of interest to our members. We need help with social media monitoring and IT skills. If any member has the time to take on these roles, we would like to hear from you.
We need to make sure members whose “free” status ends are contacted to setup D/D’s on the new tariff.
